How do we know what's really 'True'?

May 11, 2023

Following on from my last email I have a video share that I made a week ago with some reflections I felt moved to record after watching The Matrix movie.

I was particularly taken once again by the scene where Neo meets the boy bending spoons and the boy says:

“Do not try and bend the spoon, that’s impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth… there is no spoon. Then you’ll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.”

It's been a little while since I made a video and it may surprise some of you to see this given that I said a little while ago that I didn't think I'd be making anymore of these. Yet here I am!! This dynamic of thinking I know how things are and then realising they aren't true in the moment is becoming more and more frequent for me and it makes for a fitting introduction to what I share in the video.

A big part of my recent journey has been a falling away of the programming that I once believed to be true. Whilst I've been in that process for some time now, these past few years have taken it to whole new levels.

As you might expect this hasn't been a comfortable or smooth ride at times. I have found myself having no clue what to do in parts of my life, I've felt lost, I've wanted to hide away from the world and wondered what the hell I was up to. I have also found myself contradicting my programming often as my in the moment knowing to do things kicks in. I share some examples of this in the video.

We've lived for so long as if we know how things are and who we are as if they are fixed things. But what if we don't need fixed answers to these questions? What if they are just programs that are becoming more and more limiting? What if we can open to a paradigm where who we are can't be contained in a fixed idea or program and we can live from a much more powerful and fluid place of "not knowing" and allow our minds to 'bend' into what makes sense in the moment as per the quote?

The invitation and what I speak to in the video is is a kind of surrender to the present moment - to less and less rely on 3D structures and programs for solid ground to live life from and start to trust what we know in the moment for what is true. This then unburdens us of many of the limitations which we have innocently placed ourselves under.

As always don't take my word for it, see what you see about your programming. Get curious where you might be holding onto truths that might not be so truthful in the moment. Where might you be holding onto some idea because it's scary to let go or allow yourself to bend into a new version of yourself? If you feel moved to share what comes up for you please do hit reply and share them with me.

Sending lots of love,

John x
